Secrets Of Effective Dieting

March 31st, 2007

Calorie counting does not work as a method of effective dieting. Simply cutting your calories will cause you to quickly reach a “diet plateau.” When you hit this plateau, no matter what you do, you will not lose any more weight.

The reason for this is your body’s natural reaction to starvation. It quickly begins to burn less calories! This is why after only a couple weeks on a starvation diet you stop losing weight.

“Low-carb” diets are, I believe, not the answer and are not a good method of effective dieting. The reason for this is that your body needs carbohydrates for energy.

Diets like the Adkins diet require you to cut your carbohydrates to such a low level that you can easily feel tired and miserable all day. It is for that reason that these diets are ineffective for so many people–they are very difficult to “stick to.”

Low-fat dieting does not “cut it” as a method of effective dieting. The reason for this is very simple. There is no correlation between fat calories eaten and fat tissue on the body.

The truth is that the body can convert any type of calorie to fat.

In reality, the secret of effective dieting is to find the proper balance of fat calories and carbohydrates to eat at every meal. Combining the exact types of foods to give you the proper portion of each of these types of calories will maximize your weight loss.

A new program that I have found that does exactly this type of “calorie combining” is called the Idiot Proof Diet. It is not based on calorie counting, low carb or low fat, but instead teaches you to eat a healthy combination of all types of calories.
